What They're Looking For.
Must Have
1+ years of experience working with the Employee Navigator application. Knowledge of EN benefits and payroll functionality. Demonstrated alignment with Employee Navigator’s core values: humility, organization, discipline, documentation, and communication. Analytical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to perform root-cause analysis. Working experience testing payroll integrations and understanding payroll concepts, workflows, and transmission processes. Solid understanding of HTTP methods and response codes (2xx, 4xx, 5xx) and their impact on integrations. Hands-on experience using Postman for API testing and issue reproduction. Ability to read, interpret, and validate JSON payloads used in payroll integrations. Experience analyzing employee data sheets, RDR tables, and company-level payroll reports. Ability to configure companies, plans, subscriber groups, and payroll integrations for testing purposes.
Nice to Have
Experience using mock servers or controlled test data to simulate partner behavior. Familiarity with partner-specific payroll constraints and behavioral differences. Experience reviewing automation coverage and collaborating with automation-focused QA resources.
What You'll Do.
Validate the accuracy, reliability, and resilience of payroll and partner integrations within the EN application.
Work closely with Product and Engineering to ensure that complex payroll workflows, benefits plans, and data transmissions behave as expected across a wide range of partner-specific scenarios.
Execute end-to-end testing of payroll workflows, including partner sandbox testing, triggering transmissions, and validating results.
Test and debug payroll transmission failures, partial successes, retries, and downstream impacts.
Perform API testing using Postman, including validating JSON request/response payloads and HTTP status codes.
Validate Swagger and API documentation against real system behavior.
Analyze integration failures using employee data sheets, company reports, transmission dashboards, and remote API reports.
Capture, maintain, and review test cases in Testmo.
Participate in ticket tracking and development workflows using GitLab, including reviewing merge requests.

Team & Collaboration
Collaborate daily with Product and Engineering to clarify, refine, and validate requirements before and during testing. Actively share observations, ask questions, and incorporate feedback to continuously improve testing effectiveness.

About the Role Employee Navigator is seeking an Associate QA Analyst to join our Partner & Payroll team.
