Full Job Description

Council Capital is a healthcare-focused private equity firm based in Nashville, Tennessee, managing over $350 million in committed capital. We invest in lower middle market healthcare companies where we see the potential to scale purpose and performance. Our investments span control and minority positions in businesses with enterprise values between $10 million and $100 million. What sets us apart is the Council Model—a proven framework that surrounds founders and leadership teams with a powerful combination of support: our CEO Council of seasoned operators, our Strategic Healthcare Investors who bring real-world insight and access, and our internal Value Creation Team, focused on enabling growth through talent, systems, and strategy. At Council Capital, we’re not just backing companies—we’re helping build enduring businesses that improve lives and shape the future of healthcare. Position and Role The Associate Portfolio Chief of Staff position is designed to help candidates bridge experiences in management consulting, ‘real-world’ operations, and private equity before (most typically) enrolling in business school. Approximately 80% of this person’s time will be spent supporting the firm’s portfolio companies, and the remaining ~20% will be spent supporting the firm’s leadership team on a variety of strategic, special projects. This role reports to Tim Schulte (Partner, focused on portfolio value creation). Responsibilities - Partner with portfolio companies to execute consulting-type projects across all business functions (e.g., go-to-market redesign, pricing strategy, M&A integration, new product launch, etc.) - Develop and implement scalable toolkits, resources, and best practices across portfolio companies (e.g., new company onboarding toolkit, annual budgeting resources, etc.) - Partner with deal teams to provide visibility and support into managing the investment (e.g., financial and operational reporting, strategic analyses, etc.) - Support portfolio/company
