Are you ready to join us? **Overview:** We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented engineer to join our team for a 12-month placement. This engineer will contribute to various phases of our instrument development lifecycle, from design and prototyping to verification and testing. **Key Responsibilities:** **CAD Drafting & Drawing Release Support** Assist in preparing and refining CAD models and technical drawings for specific subsystems. Contribute to drawing release packages, ensuring document control and compliance with internal standards. **Prototype Assembly & Verification** Participate in the hands-on build of partial builds, mock-ups, and prototype instruments. Support mechanical assembly, integration, and functional testing. Contribute to the verification of design intent through structured test procedures. **Instrument Characterisation & Metrology** Conduct precision mechanical measurements using micrometers, calipers, and other gauges. Collect and analyse measurement data from hardware and software tools. Support formal verification reports by characterising performance and tolerances. **Test Investigation & Root Cause Analysis** Support structured investigations into test anomalies or performance deviations. Assist in designing and executing follow-up tests. Analyse results and contribute to documentation for phase review readiness. **Development of Test Fixtures** Design and fabricate simple mechanical or electromechanical test fixtures using CAD and 3D printing.
