What They're Looking For.
Must Have
Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Public Administration, or related, 2 years of experience in business analysis, project support, and/or Power Apps/Power Automate, Previous VDOT experience related to Business Analysis, Management Analytics, and/or Power Apps/Power Automate, Foundational understanding of Agile and Waterfall Software Development Lifecycle methodologies, written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills and attention to detail, Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment, work under guidance from senior analysts, Must be local to Richmond, VA, available to work onsite up to five days per week, Must physically reside within the United States, Must be able to attend an in-person interview, Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
Nice to Have
2 years of experience working with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), familiarity with VDOT policies, procedures, and systems, Internship or academic project experience involving business analysis, requirements documentation, process mapping, or solution evaluation, 0–2 years of experience in business analysis, project support, data analysis, or related work, Basic understanding of data analysis and organizational data structures, Curiosity, initiative, and willingness to learn VDOT systems, processes, and analysis standards
What You'll Do.
Assist with business process analysis
Document requirements
Validate requirements
Develop acceptance criteria
Develop requirements documentation
Translate business requirements into Agile Epics
Map business requirements to technical design documentation
Support backlog refinement activities
Maintain organized requirements repositories
Analyze business processes
Identify opportunities for improvement
Perform root cause analysis of system and process
Maintain process flows
Create context diagrams
Maintain context diagrams
Create data flow diagrams
Maintain data flow diagrams
Develop foundational knowledge of business applications
Develop foundational knowledge of organizational data management concepts
Assist with creating test objectives
Assist with creating test plans
Assist with creating test cases
Assist with creating testing documentation
Execute functional testing
Execute regression testing
Document test results
Communicate findings to project stakeholders
Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities
Coordinate stakeholder feedback for UAT
Collect stakeholder feedback for UAT
Work closely with senior analysts
Work closely with Product Owners
Work closely with business stakeholders
Work closely with technical teams
Identify dependencies across projects
Identify priorities across projects
Identify related requirements across projects
Communicate project progress
Communicate testing outcomes
Communicate business needs to team members
Support customer-focused solution delivery
Recommend internal Business Analyst team process improvements
Assist with internal Business Analyst team process improvements
Support the development of tools using Power Apps
Support the enhancement of tools using Power Apps
Support the development of workflows using Power Automate
Support the enhancement of workflows using Power Automate
Support the development of automation solutions using Power
Support the enhancement of automation solutions using Power
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
