Must Have
Ph.D. in Biochemistry or related fields, Postdoctoral research experience, Excellent communication, written and technology skills, Demonstrate proficiency in written and oral communication skills, Demonstrate ability for effective teaching and scholarship, Demonstrate support of professional organizations in the discipline and have potential for obtaining external funding, Ability to remain stationary (sitting or standing) for extended periods during lectures, meetings, and grading, Ability to move between classrooms, laboratories, and office spaces across campus, Ability to operate standard laboratory equipment and instructional technology (e.g., microscopes, pipettes, computers, projection systems), Ability to manipulate small objects and perform fine motor tasks, such as preparing samples or handling lab materials, Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 20–25 pounds (e.g., lab supplies, teaching materials), Ability to work safely in a laboratory environment, including exposure to: Chemical reagents, Biological materials, Standard laboratory hazards (with appropriate PPE), Work performed in classroom, office, and laboratory settings, May require occasional travel for conferences, research activities, professional meetings, or other university-related business, May require evening or occasional weekend hours for: Teaching assignments, Research activities, Student engagement, Adherence to institutional safety protocols and laboratory compliance standards
Nice to Have
Teaching experience at the college level, Familiarity with the ACS curriculum, Broad knowledge of computer skills and research tools in chemistry related work, Demonstrate commitment to effective, comprehensive, and innovative instructional enhancement including development and implementation of various online and blended formats to achieve learning outcome objectives
What You'll Do.
Teach undergraduate and graduate level Biochemistry courses
Perform activities related to teaching
Mentor and engage both graduate and undergraduate students in research
Service on graduate committees
Develop research agenda
Seek external funding to support scholarly work
Provide student advisement
evaluation and counseling
Advise and mentor undergraduate students
Work with student organizations
and university committees
Perform other duties as assigned by Department Head
