Job Overview The Assistant Director of Transportation - Student Safety & Support (SSS) provides districtwide leadership for Student Safety & Support within Transportation by ensuring safe, supportive, and consistent student transportation experiences across all transportation centers. This role leads student behavior support systems, staff training, campus collaboration, and intervention strategies that directly impact student success, safety, and service reliability on school buses. The Assistant Director serves as the primary authority for transportation-related student support, behavioral intervention, and safety alignment, partnering closely with transportation leadership, campuses, Student Services, and Safety & Security. Position Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities Student Safety, Behavior Support & Transportation Readiness Lead the district’s Student Safety & Support framework for all transportation services Ensure student behavior support strategies are consistently implemented across transportation centers Provide direct intervention support on routes identified as high-need or high-risk Serve as an escalation point for complex student behavior, safety, or service issues Support safe transportation operations through on-route observation, feedback, and intervention Operational Alignment & Campus Collaboration Maintain regular communication with transportation center leadership to identify student support needs Partner with campuses, Special Education teams, and Student Services to align transportation strategies with student IEPs and behavior plans Participate in IEP meetings and campus conferences as required Serve as Transportation’s subject-matter expert on student behavior and safety Training, Coaching & Staff Development Lead the development and delivery of student behavior and safety training for drivers, attendants, and supervisors Provide CPI and de-escalation training specific to the school bus environment Support onboarding and ongoi
