undertake duties at other Thorlabs locations, stand or sit for long durations and/or perform repetitious work at times., lift or move objects up to 20 pounds., grasp, manipulate, or assemble parts and components that are often very small., wear appropriate clothing and personal protective equipment such as but not limited to masks, glasses, gloves, and specialty garments., safe handling and processing of chemicals like adhesives, lubricants and solvents, and safe operation of job-related equipment and tools.

Minimum 3 years of MBU assembly experience, High School diploma or equivalent, attention to detail, ability to work well in a group atmosphere and comply with high quality standards., ability to shift from one task to another to address changing production priorities., ability to teach and mentor

assemble where needed at the discretion of their manager
understand written work instructions for a wide range of products to properly assemble the final product to the highest of quality standards and with zero scrap or rework.
Trains assemblers to meet the expected assembly timelines that are outlined on the production orders
assess whether the skills are being learned and help overcome hurdles to learning proper techniques.
Develops teaching methods that are effective and fast
Serves as a mentor to new employees in assembly and answers questions when instructions are not understood or clear
Conveys the Thorlabs Brand and Customer Centric workplace
Cross-train on various functions in order to provide flexibility and support across production operations.
maintain a safe and clean working environment through compliance with procedures

The position is responsible for training new hires on fundamental assembly skills as well as existing staff on new techniques, corrective actions regarding the assembly process, and expansion of the skills matrix for existing employees. As an expert assembler they will also help assemble where needed at the discretion of their manager. Works under general supervision.
