What They're Looking For.
Must Have
7+ years in financial controlling, financial audit, financial advisory or management accounting, Working knowledge of IFRS and/or US GAAP, Ability to own issue remediation through to completion
Nice to Have
Professional finance qualification such as the ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent, Financial Qualification (e. g. CFA, CIMA, ACCA or other relevant qualification)
What You'll Do.
Overseeing the month-end closing process for the Hold and Assets products
Ensuring related controls have been executed
Signing off on the Products Financial Statements
Ensuring various teams execute their financial closing tasks in an accurate and timely manner
Identifying missing or insufficient processes and taking initiative to find solutions
Ensuring the balance sheet and income statement are fully substantiated
Explaining period variances
Completing documentation to show how the product operates end-to-end
Participating in the external audit
Signing off on controls and assessing their effectiveness
Reviewing manual journal entries

We are now looking for an Area Controller to join our Finance Team in Budapest. This role is a unique opportunity to have an impact on Wise’s mission by ensuring timely and accurate financial data as well as building mature processes and a scalable control environment. Alongside base salary you will be eligible for our stock (RSU) grant - * New hire grant: GBP 35,000 * Annual grant: GBP 17,500 Product Description: The ‘Hold’ product consists of the Wise account (also called the Wise multi‑currency account or Wise Account / “MCA”). The Wise Account (MCA) is a multi-currency payment account for personal and business use. It allows you to receive money with local bank details, hold and convert multiple currencies at the mid-market rate, and spend via card or direct debit. You can also organize funds into Jars for future use. Essentially, it is an all-in-one hub for international banking that is faster and cheaper than traditional alternatives. Assets is an investment feature that allows you to grow your Wise balance. You can move money into regulated funds, choosing between Interest (low-risk, government-backed assets) or Stocks (global index funds).
