JOIN THE CREW We are hiring an Application Engineer to join our Technology team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Engineering, you will play a key role in supporting and enhancing Away’s Shopify storefront, custom theme extensions, and POS integrations. You’ll implement fast, elegant, and conversion-focused digital experiences across our customer touchpoints, partnering with Product, Brand, and Growth Marketing teams to maintain existing systems and deliver new features that help the business scale. WHAT YOU’LL DO AS THE APPLICATION ENGINEER - You’ll maintain and update Away’s Shopify theme, using Liquid templating to implement design changes and features that ensure a performant and brand-aligned storefront - You’ll contribute to the development of internal Shopify apps using Node.js and Remix, assisting with features for promotions, bundling, and checkout customizations under the guidance of senior engineers. - You’ll troubleshoot and resolve bugs within the Shopify storefront and POS integrations, serving as a reliable point of contact for operational issues and escalating high-complexity challenges when necessary - You’ll support Away’s retail team by implementing updates to Shopify POS UI extensions and assisting with the maintenance of hardware integrations - You’ll build and manage standard webhooks and backend event handlers, ensuring reliable data flow between Shopify and third-party platforms like Klaviyo and AfterShip - You’ll follow established best practices for performance, accessibility, and SEO across Shopify surfaces, ensuring our web properties meet technical standards - You’ll help reduce technical debt by assisting with upgrades to developer
