What They're Looking For.
Must Have
2 years of Anesthesia Technician and/or other related acute clinical patient care experience required, High School diploma or GED, Must successfully complete AHA BLS-HCP within 2 months of hire and maintain throughout employment, Effective interpersonal, critical thinking skills, communication and team working skills required, Must successfully complete orientation and competency validation for position, Must complete all anesthesia technician and II competencies within 6 weeks of hire, Must be able to fulfill fundamental components/essential elements of position, Basic computer skills, Ability to work in a high pressure/rapid paced environment, Ethical and legal issues and responsibilities
Nice to Have
Anesthesia technician certification is preferred and required unless candidate has had formal healthcare training which has resulted in certification or licensure in a healthcare role related to the anesthesia technician duties
What You'll Do.
Provide direct patient care and clinical assistance
and use monitors and equipment
Perform general cleaning and decontamination
Mentor Anesthesia Technicians I
Assist with competency validations
Perform decontamination and advanced sterilization processes
Provide direct assistance to healthcare providers
Maintain accurate documentation
Prepare patients and assist with anesthesia delivery
Maintain designated supply levels
Participate in policy and procedure development
Assist with staff orientation and training
Validate competencies of orientees
Provide direct patient care with medications and monitoring
Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles
Provide care at other Carilion facilities

Cross-functional coordination; Work with physicians; Work with Physician Assistants; Work with Anesthesiologists; Work with Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs); Work with RNs; Mentor Anesthesia Technicians I; Assist with staff orientation; Provide education and training for new employees
