What They're Looking For.
Must Have
3-years Community College Diploma in Respiratory Therapy, Current ACLS certification, Member in good standing with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario, Professional Liability Insurance
Nice to Have
5 years of relevant clinical experience, experience in the perioperative environment, Advanced knowledge of anesthesia equipment, monitoring standards, Expertise in troubleshooting anesthesia equipment, implementing new technologies, Certified Hemacue superuser, experience coordinating with Point of Care Lab
What You'll Do.
and verify OR equipment function
Ensure stocking of block room supplies
Ensure availability of related consumables
Perform intravenous line insertion
Assist with regional and neuraxial anesthesia
Set-up anesthetic gas machines
Provide manual ventilation
Apply basic and advanced airway adjuncts
Support specialized ventilation strategies
Assist with intra-operative anesthetic care
Respond to equipment alarms
Troubleshoot equipment issues
Ensure safe equipment operation
Assist with patient positioning
Participate in OR emergency responses
Provide manual ventilation during crises
Assist anesthesia team in managing ventilation problems
Provide clear handoff information
and troubleshoot respiratory equipment
Conduct preventative checks
Report malfunctioning devices
Perform preventive maintenance inspections
Identify malfunctioning devices
Remove malfunctioning devices from service
Collaborate with Biomedical Engineering
Collaborate with vendors
Ensure compliance with CSA standards
Ensure compliance with safety guidelines
Ensure compliance with hospital protocols
Assist with trials of new equipment
Assist with implementation of new equipment

How You'll Work.
Team & Collaboration
Collaborates closely with anesthetists, surgeons, perioperative nurses, and other clinical team members; Under direct supervision of the Anesthetist, assist with intra-operative anesthetic care; Collaborate with Biomedical Engineering and vendors for equipment troubleshooting or upgrades; Assist with trials and implementation of new equipment in coordination with the AA Service Leads, Biomed, vendors, and clinical teams; Work with AA Service Leads to conduct value analyses for new equipment and supplies; Work with AA Service Leads to plan and coordinate new equipment procurement; Collaborate with AA Service Leads to assist with product sourcing and trials; Communicate effectively with anesthetists, surgeons, OR nurses, and allied health colleagues
