This is a fixed hybrid role on-site Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday at HQ in Maple Plain MN, Proto Labs maintains ITAR-compliant operations in all of our United States based facilities., Due to ITAR regulations, this role is only open to U. S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents (green card holders) or foreign nationals granted refugee or asylee status., Individuals with temporary visas (e. g. E, F-1, H-1, H-2, L, B, J, TN or OPT) are not eligible for hire in this role., Physical Demands: While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use a computer keyboard, monitor and mouse, telephone and reach with hands, and arms, talk, see and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop or kneel and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds., Work Environment: Indoors (A/C); the majority of this job function is performed in an office setting requiring normal safety precautions. However, there may be job duties that require the employee to spend time in the manufacturing areas exposed to machinery and eye protection occasionally required. Occasionally works in outside weather conditions. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
What They're Looking For.
Must Have
Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or analytical field (such as Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Data, Economics, or a related discipline), or equivalent practical experience, with demonstrated exposure to business or analytics contexts, Minimum of 2 years of practical experience working with SQL and contributing to analytics or ETL workflows in a real world production or reporting environment, Good working knowledge of SQL, with the ability to read, write, and maintain moderately complex queries., Experience working with ETL pipelines or analytics workflows, including legacy or BI tool driven transformations (e. g. , DOMO)., understanding of business processes and how they translate into metrics, reports, and analytics requirements., Ability to validate data by comparing results to source systems, existing reports, and stakeholder expectations., Solid analytical and problem solving skills, with attention to detail when working with business logic and data transformations., communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with analytics, technical teams, and business consumers., Curiosity and motivation to learn, with a demonstrated ability to ramp up quickly on new tools and technologies.
Nice to Have
Exposure to dbt or other SQL based data transformation tools., Familiarity with modern data platforms and analytics workflows., Experience using BI tools and understanding how business users consume data., Basic familiarity with Git or version controlled workflows.

Build a understanding of business processes

Partner closely with business teams and analytics stakeholders to clarify requirements
Support the translation of existing DOMO ETL pipelines and business logic into SQL based transformations on the modern data platform
and improve SQL transformations with a focus on correctness
and alignment with business intent
Validate data outputs by comparing results against existing reports
and stakeholder expectations
Collaborate with senior Analytics Engineers to learn and adopt modern analytics engineering practices and tooling
Actively learn and ramp up on the modern data stack (including dbt and related tools)
demonstrating curiosity and a fast-learning curve
Communicate effectively with analytics
and business consumers to ensure data solutions meet real business needs
