Position Title: Adjunct, Languages and Linguistics (Lancaster campus) Time Type: Part time Position Summary and Qualifications: The Department of Languages and Linguistics at Saint Joseph’s University has a need for highly qualified adjunct faculty to staff a variety of courses each semester. Knowledge of proficiency-based teaching in modern languages is essential. Professionals with experience in college teaching will be given preference. Part-time adjunct faculty may instruct 1 to 2 courses each semester on an “as needed” basis. Courses available for adjunct staffing are offered during the day and in the evening. Courses may include the introductory, intermediate, or conversation level. These courses are taught in person on SJU's Lancaster campus. Saint Joseph’s University (SJU) offers a wide variety of bachelor's, master's, doctoral, associate and certificate programs. With a commitment to personalized attention through a low faculty to student ratio, SJU may call on the expertise of adjunct instructors to complement the work of full-time faculty across all of its colleges and schools. SJU appoints part-time, non-tenure track adjunct instructors on a semester-to-semester basis with no guarantee of consecutive appointments. Re-appointment is based on university need, student enrollment, and satisfactory performance. Applicants for these positions are screened on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year. Teaching responsibilities are assigned by the department chair. Compensation for adjunct instructors is commensurate with educational credentials, professional, experience and instructional background.
