What They're Looking For.
Must Have
High School Diploma or equivalent, CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association Continuing Care 60 Days Or, CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross Continuing Care 60 Days
Nice to Have
Completion of State of Michigan approved CNA Training Course, CRT-Nursing Assistant - Michigan Department of Licensing & Regulatory Affairs, Bureau of Community and Health Systems within 90 days, Associate's Degree child life, child development, child psychology, early childhood education, recreational therapy or related degree, 1 year of relevant experience working with the appropriate population served (geriatric, TBI, children, teenagers, or volunteers) and in the appropriate setting (long term care, children's hospital) - Based on Spectrum Health entity and department as appropriate, 1 year of relevant experience program planning and development, Familiarity with music, crafts, exercise and group leadership- Based on Spectrum Health entity and department as appropriate, CRT-Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, Certified (CTRS) - NCTRC National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification Upon Hire
What You'll Do.
implementing/conducting and evaluating appropriate activity opportunities for patients
supports the health care team in promoting therapeutic services and/or programs
conducting/implementing community and hospital based programs or special events as designated
Conducts daily group and individual TR sessions in accordance with treatment goals and reports on content of sessions to direct report
Participates with planning group sessions
decorating and maintaining TR supplies and equipment
Is knowledgeable of residents information and updates
Follows resident precautions and conducts TR intervention accordingly
Assists with an ongoing evaluation of residents according to their background
physical limitations and needs for meaningful activity programs
Ensures that required document for activities within areas of responsibility is performed in an accurate and timely manner
