It is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all North Carolinians, providing human service needs for special populations including individuals who are deaf, blind, developmentally disabled, and mentally ill, and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence. **Description of Work** The primary purpose of this position is to function as the Subsystem Unit Accountant III Supervisor within the DHHS Office of the Controller AFM-Subsystems Unit. This position reports to and assists the Branch Head in developing and carrying out departmental accounting and financial reporting policies and procedures associated with funding of local and state government agencies as well as for-profit and not-for-profit entities that receive state and federal funding. The responsibilities include overseeing the tracking and reporting of numerous funding sources with multiple combinations of federal, state and local funding, all with unique requirements and federal guidelines as to allow-ability and timeliness of expenditures. The position is responsible for ensuring that proper accounting is designed and implemented in numerous subsystems that directly interface with the North Carolina Financial System (NCFS). These subsystems monitor, and record the distribution of benefits, compute cost allocation and determine reimburse of federal and state shares of expenditures submitted from public, private and county agencies.
