What You'll Do.
Clean up and reconcile books for small contractor clients
and categorization issues and resolve them systematically
Bring client books up to date and maintain them on an ongoing basis
Manage job costing and project-level profitability tracking
Maintain work-in-progress schedules and percentage-of-completion reporting
Handle retainage tracking and AIA billing documentation
Ensure financials reflect the operational reality of each construction project
Set up and optimize QuickBooks Online for each client
Build reporting structures
and workflows that give clients clear visibility into their finances
Create systems that are scalable and easy for clients to maintain
Apply working knowledge of U. S. tax law to support client tax readiness
Coordinate with CPAs or tax preparers on filings where needed
Ensure books are clean and organized ahead of tax season

Full Job Description
We're looking for a **Certified Public Accountant** with construction industry experience to support a financial services and advisory business that works with small contractors across the United States. You will clean up messy books, build operational financial infrastructure for clients, and serve as the senior accounting resource as the practice scales. This is a client-facing role supporting small construction businesses typically under $5 million in annual revenue. You need to understand how construction accounting actually works, including job costing, WIP schedules, percentage-of-completion, retainage, and AIA billing.
